Mint Julep Mixed Drink Recipes
The Mint Julep Drink Recipe is made with Bourbon, mint leaf and minted syrup. You can make your own minted Simple Syrup by boiling two cups of sugar in two cups of water with the mint for five minutes. The Mint Julep is grand summertime drink and is the traditional Churchill Downs Southern drink to be served to celebrate Kentucky Derby festivities.
Drink Recipes by Ingredient
- 2 sprigs of fresh mint or spearmint
- 1 ounce mint syrup
- 1½ ounces Bourbon
- 2 cups crushed ice
Mix Drink Recipes
Place one of the mint sprigs in the bottom of a drink mixing glass and combine with the mint syrup. Add the rest of the Mint Julep Drink Recipe ingredients and shake with crushed ice. Strain the mixed drink over cracked ice into a old fashion highball glass or silver julep cups if you have them. Top off the Mint Julep with a splash of water and decorate by garnishing the drink with the second branchlet of mint.
